PAIR OF SIAMESE TWINS ARRIVES AT UTH

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) today the 13th of October received a pair of Siamese twins born yesterday to Lasford Sibaumba and Christine Moono Musaka of Singani area in Southern Province.

The conjoined twins were born and referred to the hospital from Batoka hospital and arrived at 15:00 hours. The babies who are in a stable condition were assessed by the medical staff and admitted to one of the specialised Unit where they are currently receiving care.

Pair of Siamese twins born yesterday on the 12th October, 2015.

Christine 38years , who practices peasant farming with her husband had a natural birth and was only aware she was expecting twins and was not totally aware of their condition. She narrated “  when I saw my babies born joined I was  scared and did not know what children’s condition will add up to.

The babies conjoined at the bottom are the second set of twins the couple has conceived and are an addition to 7 siblings.

UTH from the year 1970 to 2010 has recorded a total number of 8 surgeries involving Siamese twins with 8 babies being male and the other 8 female.

The sex of these Siamese twins  is yet to be determined and a combined medical team of experts will give a conclusive road map on the way forward in due course.
